ATI Management Team
George O. Otieno, Chief Executive Officer (effective 12 July, 2010)
George Otieno brings to ATI over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry, with 29 years in Reinsurance. Mr. Otieno joins ATI, after serving as the Regional Director of the African Reinsurance Corporation (Africa Re) since September 2004 where he was responsible for growing Africa Re's business in 13 countries in East and Southern Africa. Mr. Otieno spent 27 years with Africa Re and prior to this appointment, during the past 21 years, Mr. Otieno worked for Africa Re in various capacities, including as Head of West Africa Region and Director of Central Operations & Inspection based in the Corporation's headquarters in Lagos, Nigeria.
Stewart Kinloch, Chief Underwriting Officer
Stewart Kinloch joined ATI in August 2008 as the Chief Underwriting Officer. Mr. Kinloch, a British national, came to ATI with nearly three decades of international banking and trade credit insurance experience. Before joining ATI, he was the Deputy Head of Trade Credit and Surety for Europe with QBE. Prior to this position, he held a variety of senior posts with Atradius, most notably as the Regional Director for Underwriting for Africa, Asia, Middle East, The Americas, the UK and Ireland. Previous positions included Deputy Head of Group Risk Management with Gerling NCM and Head of Credit Analysis in the Risk Management Division of Euler Trade Indemnity. Several banking positions preceded with the Royal Bank of Scotland in Scotland and London and First National Finance in the UK and Austria.
Ivan Alippi, Chief Financial Officer
An Italian national, Mr. Alippi joined ATI in January 2008 as the CFO. Prior to his current position with ATI, he was the Managing Director and CFO of IDLO - International Development Law Organization, a Rome-based intergovernmental organisation with a mission to promote the rule of law, good governance, human rights and peace in developing, transition and post-conflict countries. From 1995 to 2003, Mr. Alippi held Management-level positions in Merrill Lynch's Italian Group, including Capital Markets, Investment Banking, Asset Management and Private Banking, where his final position was Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining Merrill Lynch he worked as an Auditor in the Financial Division of Arthur Anderson & Co. Mr. Alippi is a Certified Public Accountant and Qualified Auditor, Member of both the Italian Qualified Auditor Roll and the Qualified Accountant Roll.
Cyprien Sakubu, Chief Investor Relations Manager
A Burundian national and lawyer by training, Mr. Sakubu was appointed Chief Investor Relations Manager in 2002. Prior to joining ATI, he was the Institution Building Consultant for the World Bank's Regional Trade Facilitation Project. Previously he held management and Board of Director-level positions including Director of the World Bank's Private Sector Development Project for Burundi. In this capacity he was in charge of reforms for private sector development, regional integration and export promotion, including reforms to legislation governing commercial banking and business enterprise activities, real estate regulations and coordination of related-donor assistance programs. Mr. Sakubu also served as the Director for Finance and Administration of the Burundi Textile Complex, then the largest state-owned corporation; and as a Member of the Board of Directors of an investment and commercial bank in Burundi.
